Hello & welcome to ‘cplifeandme. My name’s Francesca & I’m the fun loving, cerebral palsy mom behind this blog.
I was born in 1982, in South Africa to two amazing people. They believed in me from the start and brought me up to believe in myself. They were pioneers in the growth mindset, " I couldn't do something YET". I achieved two degrees, Bsc English Literature and a PGCE in lifelong learning. I am also a qualified assessor. I taught for many years and then the toll started to show on my walking and my general health and so I stopped teaching and became a sahm mom. I have faced many obstacles and challenges in my life and am trying to educate myself on my condition. When I was younger, I felt very much alone, there was no internet, no resources for kids like me, most were far more serious in their abilities and limitations for want of a better word and so there was no one that I knew personally who was able to walk, talk and function.
Now that the world has opened up and the internet allows access to others it is uplifting to read other peoples journeys and to see that they can and do achieve amazing things.
So this blog is my way of telling my story, sharing my journey to information and knowledge about this thing called cerebral palsy.
